Voter Registration
Election Day is November 4, 2008. Voter registration deadlines and absentee ballot or overseas voter ballot request deadlines are fast approaching, so request your absentee ballot now!
The U.S. Embassy Consular Section has voting information and forms. You can visit the Consular Section at Boulevard du Regent 25, 1000 Brussels, Monday through Thursday, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., or Friday, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., to complete and submit a Federal Post Card Application for an absentee ballot.
Or, save yourself a trip to the Consular Section by requesting an absentee ballot online via the U.S. government's Federal Voting Assistance Program, http://www.fvap.gov/. Detailed instructions can be found here.
Information on balloting procedures for every state is available from this source.
If you need to contact local election officials back in the U.S. to ask questions about the registration/absentee voting process, look at the FVAP website at www.fvap.gov/links/statelinks.html. Elections and absentee voting are responsibilities of the various state secretaries of state, and contact information for the local election officials can be found on their websites.
If you have additional questions or would like to receive a Federal Post Card Application, please contact the Consular Section at 02/508 2383, 02/508 2878 or 02/508 2385, via email at uscitizenbrussels@state.gov or via fax at 02/508 2049. To receive the Federal Post Card Application, please provide us with your home state and your mailing address in Belgium.
Thank you for registering to vote.
